Armidale Roller Derby - Inaugural Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation Course

Armidale Roller Derby will host a Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation (Level 1) for Student Coaches.

Both theory and practical sessions will be held between 8:30am and 5:00pm on Sunday 16th October 2016.

In addition, the Practical sessions will be available to invited Fresh Meat students to further improve their skills and learn some new things.

All participants must register here in order to participate - see below for details.

 

Invited Fresh Meat Skaters

Please register here, to learn something new from the student coaches.

Costs $10.00 and can either be paid online (note transactions fees apply) or Cash on the day.

Once registered, you will be contacted regarding the program times.

 

Student Coaches

Open to all SkateNSW members that either currently coach (compulsory), assist with coaching, interesting in coaching (and have the skating skill to do so).

Please register here and pay the course fee prior to attending.

Cost:    $120.00 (includes SkateNSW / Skate Australia administration and accreditation fees, compulsory texts, Sports Education registration fee and other course costs such as presenter costs, facility hire and equipment plus catering)

Note you will only be able to register for this course once you have joined SkateNSW and received your login details.

 

Non Skate Australia Members

The course will also be available to non Skate Australia members (with proof of Sports Injury Insurance cover).

Cost:    $150.00 (includes SkateNSW administration fees, compulsory texts, and other course costs such as presenter costs, facility hire and equipment plus catering).

Note does would not include registration with the Australia Sport Commission, this is only available to Skate Australia members (you can join as Associate members for $30).

 

Pre-requisites

Student Coaches have been invited based on their known skating ability / coaching experience, but must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • All participants must be a minimum CAT 3 Development member of SkateNSW.
    • Assistant Coaches for SkateStars, SkateFit & other Recreational / Promotional events may join as CAT 4 Recreational members.
    • Non Skate Australia members must provide proof of Sports Injury/Public Liability/Professional Indemnity Insurance cover including confirmation of cover for this event.
  • All participants are required to first complete a free online Community Coaching General Principles course (please choose SKATE as your Sport).
    • Please email through your certificate on completion
  • All participants are required to complete a Working With Children Check. You can Apply here.
    • Please email through your WWCC letter on completion.

 

Accreditation Course Information:

  • This Course is the only Roller Derby Coaching Accreditation Course recognised by the Australia Sports Commission
  • Skate Australia and its affiliated State Associations are the only organisations authorised to conduct this course
  • This Course is supported by NSW Sport and Recreation, a division of the Office of Sport, NSW Government by way of the 2015/16 Sport Development Grant Program

 

Why do coaches and officials have to be accredited?
All coaches and officials who require Professional Indemnity, must hold qualifications and accreditation with a sports specific certificate by a recognised organisation like the ASC.
Only recognised National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) like Skate Australia are eligible to submit courses for recognition/accreditation by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
