Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Monday 27 September 2021

The NSW Government has announced the roadmap from easing restrictions as NSW reaches the 80 per cent double dose target. From the Monday after NSW hits the 80 per cent (aged 16 and over) double dose vaccination target, eased restrictions will allow those who are fully vaccinated to have up to 10 people visit their home, participate in community sport, and access hospitality venues (where drinking while standing up will be allowed indoors). All premises will operate at 1 person per 4sqm indoors,

The NSW Government made announcements relating to the stay-at-home orders lifting for some local government areas in regional NSW from 12:01am Saturday 11 September, and the release of the roadmap outlining freedoms after NSW passes the 70 per cent double vaccination target. Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Thursday 2 September 2021

The NSW Government has announced that from 5am tomorrow morning (Friday 3 September 2021), exercise will no longer be limited to one hour in the local government areas of concern. The curfew (9pm-5am) will still apply, but exercise is unlimited outside of those hours. People living in areas of concern may leave your house to participate in exercise in groups two or less (or members of the same household), within 5km of your house.

2022 Skate Australia Speed National Championships Postponed

Unfortunately, Skate NSW have advised that they are not in a position to hold Nationals as scheduled in January and due to the current Covid situation doubt they would be able to hold them at all next year. Skate South Australia have advised they would be happy to host them; but with the different Covid lockdown scenarios over Australia it was decided that it would not be possible or fair to hold them in January. The Committee will meet again in January to discuss Nationals.

Get involved with the Sport Super Sunday vaccination campaign!

To help increase vaccination rates in 16-39 year olds in the local government areas of concern, NSW Health has announced that Sport Super Sunday will take place this Sunday, 29 August 2021.​ Sports fans, participants, coaches, officials and volunteers are encouraged to wear team uniforms, colours, or gear and take a selfie to post on local club sites with the hash tag #vaccinationchampion

The No 2 Order revokes the current Public Health (COVID-19 Additional Restrictions for Delta Outbreak) Order 2021. Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Friday 19 August 2021

In response to the evolving Delta outbreak, NSW will extend the current lockdown in Greater Sydney until the end of September, and introduce new rules for the local government areas of concern, where the vast majority of new cases are emerging. NSW Health and Police have worked together to develop a set of additional COVID controls for the state to reduce transmission and ensure compliance.

Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Thursday 18 August 2021

Due to ongoing concerns about community transmission, the NSW Government has announced that stay-at-home orders in place for regional NSW will be extended until at least 12.01am on 28 August, in line with existing orders for the Greater Sydney area. The Office of Sport COVID-19 webpage has been updated with this information.
