Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Wednesday 18 August 2021

The Office of Sport has received several enquiries relating to the 5km rule across the areas of concern, Greater Sydney, and Regional NSW. Below are some responses to frequently asked questions based on the current Public Health Orders. The overarching advice from NSW Health is to stay local, minimise movements outside your home, and minimise unnecessary interactions with others.

Further to this morning’s announcement, to protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for all of regional NSW, effective from 5pm tonight until 12.01am Sunday 22 August 2021. Stay-at-home orders will apply to all people who live in regional NSW. This means the whole of New South Wales will be under stay-at-home restrictions from 5pm today. To protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for the Dubbo Local Government Area (LGA), which includes Wellington, Wongarbon, Geurie, Brocklehurst, Stuart Town, Mumbil and Eumungerie, effective from 1pm today until the beginning of 19 August 2021. To protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for the Armidale Regional local government area, from 5pm today until 12.01am Sunday 15 August. Stay at home rules apply if you were in the Armidale Regional local government area on or after 29 July 2021. If you have left the area, you must follow the stay at home rules until 12.01am Sunday 15 August 2021.

2021 Inline Hockey Australia National Championships Cancelled

The National Executive committee once again has had to make the very difficult and heartbreaking decision regarding the viability of the 2021 Inline Hockey National Championships due to be held in Logan, Queensland in September this year and have seen no option but to cancel the Nationals.

Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Thursday 5 August 2021

To protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Singleton, Dungog, Muswellbrook and Cessnock from 5pm today until 12.01am Friday 13 August. The rules in place for these areas are the same that are already in place across Greater Sydney, including the Central Coast. Petition - Nowra Velo Club - Multi Sport Cycling Facility, Berry Sport and Rec

Please support former NSW Speed Skater, Richard Vitiello with a petition for the Nowra Velo Club, who are seeking funding to enable a prefabricated modular wheelchair compatible amenities building as part of the evolving Multi-sport Criterium Track Facility at the Berry Sport and Recreation Centre. SkateNSW has formally provided an expression on interest in the project, as the facility could be greatly utilised for Speed Skating training and competition, from local to international level.

Given low vaccination rates, the current stay at home orders will remain in place for another four weeks (until Saturday, 28 August at 12.01am) across Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour. This extra time will allow NSW residents to significantly increase the uptake of vaccines in areas most affected by the current outbreak and across the state. Overnight, the stay at home restrictions for Orange, Cabonne and Blayney were lifted.

To protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, new restrictions will be introduced for the Orange City Council, Blayney Shire Council, and Cabonne Shire Council areas from 12.01am Wednesday July 21 until 12.01am Wednesday July 28. Stay-at-home orders will apply to all people who live in the Orange City Council, Blayney Shire Council, and Cabonne Shire Council areas, or have been there on or after Saturday July 17.

COVID-19 Financial support and surveillance testing requirements for workers

The NSW Government and Commonwealth Government has announced a combined financial package to support households and businesses in New South Wales during the current COVID-19 lockdown. Under a new combined support package, the COVID-19 Disaster Payment will be further expanded and increased. The Commonwealth and NSW will also enter into a new 50/50 cost sharing arrangement for a new business support payment to be implemented and administered by NSW. The NSW Government is seeking assistance in sharing information about the current Greater Sydney restriction with Aboriginal and CALD communities. In particular, it is important to highlight the key message about not having visitors to your home while the stay at home order is in place.
