A Return to Sport for Under 18’s from 1 July 2020

It was announced today by the Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, that “kids’ sport can resume across NSW from 1 July.” The full press release as well as comments from Sport NSW can be read here. Note due to a number of questions having been raised over the announcement, today's meeting with the NSW Minister for Sport, NSW Office of Sport and NSW State Sport Organisations has been postponed until Friday 5th June 2020 ... expect clarifications to follow that meeting.

Sport Australia - Return to Sport Toolkit

Sport Australia has developed a Return to Sport Toolkit that includes a suite of resources to help sporting organisations get ready to recommence training, competitions and programs in a safe, responsible and low risk manner.

Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Friday 22 May 2020

The current Public Health Orders do not prevent any sporting organisation from resuming training. NSW sporting organisations can start training immediately as long as they comply with the current Public Health Orders, including training in maximum groups of 10 people and following the recommended physical distancing measures of 1.5 metres. It is up to the sporting organisation to adapt or modify their sport, to be in line with the Public Health Orders.

Community sports clubs across Australia are closed. Many will find it hard to survive. The financial impact of COVID-19 is devastating Australian sport—particularly community and club sports that rely on membership fees and local sponsorships to keep the lights on. The Australian Sports Foundation’s role is to raise money for sport, and we are launching a national campaign to help community clubs and organisations access funds to recover, but to do this we need your help.

COVID- 19 EASING RESTRICTIONS

What is changing on 15 May From Friday 15 May, the following will be allowed: - public gatherings of up to 10 people - up to 5 visitors may visit another household at any one time - outdoor playground and exercise equipment can be used with caution - outdoor pools can open with restrictions.

COVID-19: Returning to Sport in NSW

Sport and active recreation play an important role in community development, connectiveness, physical and mental health. Returning to sport is a key turning point for many people to resume some normality in their lives during this unprecedented time. While guidelines, frameworks and other information are provided from the Federal Government, each state and territory across Australia are in very different stages of recovery as evidenced by the table below.

COVID-19 Sector Update - Monday 11 May 2020

On Sunday 10 May 2020, the NSW Government announced that it will ease the following restrictions Friday 15 May 2020, including: outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people use of outdoor equipment with caution outdoor pools open with restrictions.

COVID-19 - Sport and Recreation Sector Update Saturday 2 May 2020

The NSW Government notes that National Cabinet endorsed the Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment developed by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) on Friday 1 May 2020. The NSW Public Health order signed on the 30th of March 2020, remains in force and prohibits exercise in groups of greater than two. The NSW Government is considering these issues alongside other restrictions and will update the community should any changes to the Public Health Orders be made.

E-trading Endorsement for Skate Australia Inc

Any club wishing to provide any form of Online or Outdoor training needs to inform the SkateNSW Office with the details for Sanctioning (same as with regular training). If you are using your Club Portal, you may simply send the link to the Online Event/Training. TAFE NSW Fee-Free Short Courses

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, TAFE NSW in conjunction with the NSW Government, are offering a number of fee-free short courses that offer practical skills and learning across a range of industries. The short courses can be completed in just days or weeks, and with many people working from home or perhaps on reduced hours, this is a great time to upskill yourself or encourage your staff to upskill.

As the State becomes increasingly isolated in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, many people are working, learning and spending all of their time at home. It is critical that Australians are able to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing at home, and that they are able to exercise in confined spaces with limited resources.
