Sport NSW COVID-19 Update

The rapidly evolving impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic are continuing to cause unprecedented and uncertain times for all. The suspension, postponement or cancellation of sporting activities, events and training are in place nationally and worldwide, while indoor sporting venues, gyms, public playgrounds and skate parks are all closed.

COVID-19 - Sport and Recreation Sector Update Monday 30 March 2020

On Sunday 29 March 2020, the National Cabinet agreed to limit both indoor and outdoor gatherings to a maximum of two persons only. This limit excludes people in the same household going out together and family units. In addition, National Cabinet's strong guidance to all Australians is to stay home unless people are undertaking the following activities:

To help the sector navigate through these uncertain times, the Office of Sport will be publishing a weekly eDM that provides an update on the impacts of COVID-19 and information to assist organisations.

NSW Office of Sport - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

As Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop the Office of Sport is working closely with NSW Health and other government agencies to monitor its impact on the NSW sport and recreation sectors and the communities we serve. From Monday, 16 March the government advises against public attendance at all organised nonessential gatherings of 500 people or more.

On behalf of Skate Australia Board, I would like to reassure all of our members that we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation and its possible impact on our sports. As the situation is constantly evolving, the most up to date advice and information pertaining to high performance sporting environments can be found at the AIS webpage. This is an excellent resource created by the AIS in partnership with Sport Australia, the Australian Olympic Committee and Paralympics Australia.

Clean Sport 101

ASADA has released a new online course for grassroots and pathway athletes – Clean Sport 101. Clean Sport 101 is a simple 15 minute course which gives a snapshot of the rules, the potential dangers, with helpful hints and resources to help keep athletes clean and fair throughout their sporting journey.

in-advance Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE)

Please note that the criteria for in-advance Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) has been updated. We will be communicating the updated criteria directly to athletes and support personnel through the ASADA website, and our Twitter and Facebook pages. Please ensure your state affiliates, athletes, team managers, medical officials and other support persons are aware of the updated list, and remind athletes it is their responsibility to check if they need an in-advance TUE.

Urgent Casting Call for Artistic Roller Skaters

Mullinars Casting are casting a TVC and looking for experienced male and female artistic roller skaters aged 30 - 50. It's a great gig, well paid ($4,000 plus) and a fabulous production company. All submissions are to be in by Friday, filming will happen in early February. Any amazing skaters who fit the brief should contact Allison Meadows at Mullinars Casting.

Level 2 Anti-Doping 2020

This course is for athletes and support personnel who need to stay up to date on the latest information on anti-doping. This course is updated annually to reflect current trends in anti-doping. A certificate is issued upon completion and expires on 31st December each year. Pre-requisite for this course is the successful completion of the Level 1 course.

Please note the SkateNSW office will be closed from Thursday 19th December 2019 to Wednesday 1st January 2020 (inclusive) The SkateNSW Office will reopen on Thursday 2nd January 2020, but will be closed again from Thursday 23rd - Friday 7th February 2020 (inclusive). SkateNSW wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All members are welcome to renew their membership now and new participants may register now.
